The best restaurants in Barrie depend on the occasion, so we do not rank them. Tourism Barrie lists dining by area: downtown on Dunlop Street, the north end, the south end and just out of town. Whichever you choose, a private chauffeur in Barrie drops you at the door and waits: $135–160 an hour in a business sedan, 3-hour minimum.
What are the best restaurants in Barrie for a night out?
The honest answer is that the best table is the one that suits your evening: a quiet anniversary dinner, a birthday for ten, a client meal or a pre-theatre bite are four different searches. We drive to restaurants all over Simcoe County, but we do not run them, review them or rank them, and we have no affiliation with any of them. What we can do is point to a reliable source and show how the evening works once you have chosen.
The source is Tourism Barrie, the city's official visitor organisation, which publishes dining listings by area. The names we mention below come from those listings as they stood on 2 October 2026. Confirm hours, menus and reservations with the restaurant, because they change.
Where do people in Barrie go out to eat?
Four areas cover most of it. Downtown means Dunlop Street and the streets around it, a short walk from the waterfront and Meridian Place, with pubs, Italian rooms, a brewery taproom and a diner within a few blocks. The north end runs along Bayfield Street and nearby roads, closer to Georgian Mall and the chain restaurants families know. The south end, just south of Essa Road, is casual and family-friendly. Just out of town reaches Innisfil and beyond.
The Downtown Barrie BIA is the organisation of downtown businesses and has its own listings and event news. For a first night out in the city, downtown is the usual starting point: it is compact, and the chauffeur can drop you at one door and collect you from another.
Which downtown restaurants does Tourism Barrie list?
For a sense of the range, the downtown listing includes Il Buco Ristorante and 147 Ristorante on Dunlop Street East, Bacio Trattoria and Casa Mia on Dunlop Street West, LUCA on Mulcaster Street, The North Restaurant on Mary Street, B'Spoke Kitchen + Market on Collier Street, Donaleigh's Irish Public House, Dunlop Street Diner and Tara Indian Cuisine. Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery & Tap Room is on Dunlop Street East.
North of the centre, Tourism Barrie lists places such as The Crazy Fox Bistro on Bayfield Street, and in the south end Casano's Italian Restaurant on Anne Street South and Barnstormer Brewing + Distilling on Yonge Street. This is a sample, not a recommendation, and a place missing from it may be excellent. Read the full list on the Tourism Barrie page before choosing.
How do I pick a restaurant for the occasion?
Start with the group, not the cuisine. A table for two wants a room where you can talk. A table for ten wants a restaurant that takes large bookings and has a private area, and a family with grandparents wants step-free access and a quiet corner.
| Occasion | What to look for | Vehicle that fits | Hourly planning range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anniversary or date night | Quiet room, early reservation | Business or first-class sedan | $135–160 or $350–410 per hour |
| Client dinner | Booth or private table, reliable timing | First-class sedan | $350–410 per hour |
| Family dinner with grandparents | Step-free access, no rush | Business or executive SUV | $175–205 or $225–265 per hour |
| Birthday for eight to fourteen | Group menu, long table | Executive Sprinter | $475–550 per hour |
| Pre-show dinner | Fixed table time, short walk | Business sedan | $135–160 per hour |
Book the restaurant first, then the car, because the table time anchors everything else.

Why bring a chauffeur to dinner in Barrie?
Because the best part of a night out is not the parking. A chauffeur drops you at the door, so you do not circle downtown streets looking for a space, and collects you when you are finished, so you do not walk back to a cold car in January. If the evening includes a glass of wine, nobody has to decide who is fit to drive.
It also gives you your time back. A birthday or anniversary dinner that starts with a car at your front door feels different from one that starts with a search for a spot. For couples who are at the stage of life where driving at night is a strain, it removes the problem completely. Our anniversary evening guide shows how couples plan it.
How does an hourly chauffeur work for dinner?
You book the hours the evening needs, with a 3-hour minimum. The chauffeur collects you at home, drives to the restaurant and waits nearby, or stays on call if you prefer. When the meal is over you send a message and the car is at the door within minutes. Extra time beyond what you booked is added in 30-minute blocks, so a dessert that runs long costs a half hour and no more.
A typical dinner is a 6:00 p.m. pickup, a 6:30 reservation, finished at 9:00 and home by 9:30. That is three and a half hours, which you would book as four. For the details of how the product works, see the hourly chauffeur service page.
What does a night out cost?
A 4-hour business sedan booking is $540–640 all-in plus HST: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, tolls on the planned route and gratuity included, with the exact fixed fare shown before you confirm. A business SUV is $175–205 an hour, an executive SUV $225–265, a first-class sedan $350–410 and a Sprinter $475–550, all with a 3-hour minimum.
If you only want two simple rides, one-way trips within Barrie are $110–125 in a business sedan, up to 10 km and 5–20 minutes, each way. The rates page lists every figure, and the next section explains when each option wins.
Should I book hourly or two one-way rides?
Two one-way rides win when the restaurant is close, the time is firm and you do not mind a short wait for the second car. They cost less in cash, and they work well when the evening is simple. The second car, though, has to be dispatched when you call, and on a snowy Friday or a game night that can take a little longer than you expect.
Hourly wins when the evening has more than one stop, when you want the car at the door the moment you walk out, or when the weather is bad. The same chauffeur who dropped you collects you, which means no explaining the pickup point twice. Our hourly versus point-to-point guide works through the comparison in more detail.
What about dinner before a show or a game?
Barrie's evening venues include Five Points Theatre, the MacLaren Art Centre and Sadlon Arena, home of the Barrie Colts. Check each venue's own calendar for dates, since schedules change. A pre-show dinner with a car on call means you reach the venue with time to spare and do not queue for a taxi afterwards.
On Colts game nights, traffic around Sadlon Arena is heavy before puck drop and again after the final buzzer. A chauffeur who knows the entrances positions the car where the crowd thins. Our Colts game-day post covers the logistics, and the Five Points Theatre page covers show nights.
How do you handle a birthday dinner for ten?
A group of ten is the case for an Executive Sprinter, which seats up to 14 and is $475–550 an hour. One vehicle, one chauffeur and one fixed fare means the whole table arrives together and nobody drives. Tell dispatch the pickup points, because a group often collects from two or three homes, and enter them as stops when you book.
Alcohol is not allowed in our vehicles, including Sprinters and party buses, so the birthday toast belongs to the restaurant, not the car. Plan for that, and the evening is simple. The birthday limo ideas post has more ways to shape a celebration.

What about drinking and driving after dinner?
Ontario's rules on impaired driving are strict, and the province's impaired driving page explains the penalties, which apply to alcohol, cannabis, over-the-counter drugs and prescription medication. A chauffeur turns the question into a non-question.
To be plain about it: you can drink at the restaurant, but you cannot drink in the car. No alcohol is allowed on board our vehicles, and that includes the ride home. The chauffeur is there to get you and your guests home safely, not to host the party.
How does winter change a night out in Barrie?
Barrie is in Ontario's snowbelt. From November to March, lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay can make a short drive slow, and roads to Springwater, Oro-Medonte and Innisfil drift over. A slippery kerb is a poor way to end a good dinner.
Our vehicles run on winter tires from November to April, and the chauffeur drives these roads daily. Before leaving, the chauffeur checks Ontario 511 for closures. If you are travelling beyond Barrie, say to a restaurant in Orillia, allow extra time and tell dispatch about the weather.
What if the restaurant is outside Barrie?
Dining out in Simcoe County is easy by car. One way from downtown Barrie, a business sedan runs $150–170 to Innisfil (15 km, 15–25 minutes), $215–245 to Orillia (38 km, 30–35 minutes), $230–265 to Casino Rama (47 km, 35–45 minutes) and $275–315 to Collingwood (57 km, 50–60 minutes). These are planning ranges, and the engine shows the fixed fare.
For an evening somewhere that far, an hourly chauffeur is often better: the car waits through dinner, and you are not trying to book a ride from a small town at 10 p.m. See the Friday Harbour and Innisfil hotels page and the Orillia page for what is nearby.
Is this suitable for client dinners?
Yes, and it is one of the more common business uses. A first-class sedan, an S-Class or 7 Series class car, gives a client a quiet arrival, and the chauffeur is discreet. Companies set up an account so an assistant can book on behalf of a principal and pay on one invoice. The corporate page explains how.
If the client is visiting from out of town, the Barrie hotels page covers transfers, and the travel desk can arrange flights and rooms with BookingWorldwide.net. A date night or a proposal has its own page: date nights and proposals.
What about older diners and children?
A chauffeur helps with doors, bags and a steady arm, and an older diner is not hurried. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available if you book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter. Child seats, whether infant, toddler or booster, are from $25 each, added at booking.
Pets travel by prior approval: request it at booking and wait for written confirmation. Service animals are welcome; mention them at booking. A chauffeur is a driver, not a care attendant, so anyone who needs hands-on support should travel with a family member or caregiver.
How do I book a chauffeur for a night out?
Choose the hourly option at BarrieLimo.net, enter the pickup, the restaurant as the first stop, any later stops and the hours. Read the fixed fare and confirm. Dispatch has your booking, and the chauffeur arrives five minutes early on the night.
Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. Your restaurant's own booking terms are separate, so keep them in mind when you plan.
