There is no direct train or GO bus from Barrie to Toronto Pearson that we can verify. Transit riders take the GO train to Union Station and then UP Express to the airport; a private car runs door to door in 60–85 minutes over about 97 km, planned at $380–440 for a business sedan all-in plus HST. Choose by luggage, group size, start time and how much you value the clock.
Barrie to Pearson by GO train, shuttle or limo: the honest comparison
If you already know you want a car, book direct and see the fixed fare. Everyone searching for a GO train from Barrie to Pearson Airport is trying to answer the same practical question: what is the sensible way to reach the plane? The answer is not the same for a solo traveller at noon and a family of five at five in the morning. This guide sets out every option fairly, including the ones that cost far less than ours, and shows where a private car from BarrieLimo.net earns its fare and where it does not.
Our route page, Barrie to Pearson Airport, covers the drive itself: fare table, highway choices and timing. This page is the decision guide that comes before it.
Is there a train from Barrie to Pearson Airport?
Not directly. The Barrie line of GO Transit runs between Allandale Waterfront GO, its terminus, and Union Station in downtown Toronto. Pearson is served from Union by UP Express, a separate train. To go by rail you therefore take two trains and change at Union Station: GO from Barrie, then UP Express to the airport.
People also ask "is there a train from YYZ to Barrie" and the answer is the same in reverse: UP Express from Pearson Station to Union, then the GO Barrie line northbound. We do not print GO timetables here, because they change; check the live trip planner on the Metrolinx site before you plan around a train, particularly for evenings, weekends and the last departure of the day.
Is there a GO bus from Barrie to Pearson?
As far as we can verify, there is no direct GO bus from Barrie to Pearson either, and you should not assume one exists. GO operates buses and trains between Barrie and Toronto, according to Tourism Barrie's GO Transit page, which says buses and trains run seven days a week, but those services reach Toronto rather than the airport terminals. Confirm any bus connection in the Metrolinx trip planner before you rely on it.
Searches such as "GO bus Barrie to Pearson", "Barrie to Pearson airport bus" and "GO bus Pearson to Barrie" lead to a mix of intercity coach listings and shuttle operators. We cannot vouch for their current routes or timetables, so check each operator's own site and read the pickup address carefully: a coach that stops at a depot or a roadside stop is a different trip from a car at your door.
The GO train plus UP Express route, step by step
- Reach a Barrie GO station: Allandale Waterfront GO (24 Essa Road) or Barrie South GO (833 Yonge Street).
- Ride the Barrie line to Union Station, the downtown Toronto terminal. Check the live timetable for the departure.
- Change at Union to UP Express, whose homepage describes the link from Pearson to downtown Toronto as 28 minutes. UP Express also stops at Bloor, Mount Dennis and Weston.
- Arrive at Pearson Station, then walk to check-in. UP Express serves Terminal 1; if you fly from another terminal, the airport's transportation page describes how to move between them.
Add the legs yourself from the live timetable: the walk or ride to the station, the wait for the train, the ride, the change at Union, the UP Express ride and the walk at the airport. That total is longer than the car's 60–85 minutes, and the real question is whether the saving justifies it.

Where to board: Allandale Waterfront or Barrie South
Allandale Waterfront GO is at 24 Essa Road on the waterfront, next to the City's Allandale Transit Terminal. GO's station page lists 160 free spaces in the main lot and states that no overnight parking is available, which matters a great deal if you plan to leave a car there for a trip. Barrie South GO is at 833 Yonge Street and lists 615 spaces in the main lot, plus carpool parking; the page we read does not mention overnight parking, so ask GO before leaving a car for several days.
Tourism Barrie notes that parking at both stations is first come, first served. For more detail, see our pages on Allandale Waterfront GO and Barrie South GO.
Getting to the station: the first mile
Many travellers underestimate this part. If you live near the Barrie waterfront the walk or a short ride may be easy; from the Innisfil, Springwater or Oro-Medonte side it is a real trip. The City of Barrie says that when you connect to or from a GO train, your Barrie Transit ride is free if you show valid credentials and travel within 30 minutes of the train's arrival or departure, which helps for a daytime trip.
By car, a short ride within Barrie is $110–125 for a business sedan, and the chauffeur can take you and your luggage to either station. Our Allandale Waterfront GO page covers the pickup and drop-off arrangements.
Fares and discounts worth checking
We do not quote GO fares, because the Metrolinx fare tool is the authority and it changes. Two points from Tourism Barrie's GO page are worth knowing: children 12 and under ride free on GO trains and buses, and on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays the One-Day Weekend Pass lets you ride any GO train or bus for $10 per person. Neither covers UP Express, which has its own fares, so check UP Express separately.
For one adult with one bag on a weekday afternoon, the rail trip is the least expensive way to the airport. We say so plainly: price is not what our service is for.
Shared airport shuttles: what they are and aren't
A shared airport shuttle sells you a seat, not a vehicle. It is usually cheaper than a private car for one traveller, and it may pick you up near your home. The trade-off is time: the van often collects other passengers, so the trip can take longer than a direct run, and the departure times are the operator's, not yours. Some shuttles also use a central depot rather than your address.
Because we do not run a shared shuttle, we do not compare operators or print their prices. Our airport shuttle alternative page explains the difference between a shared seat and a private vehicle in more detail.
Taxi and rideshare from Barrie to Pearson
A taxi or app ride is the simplest way to go without planning ahead, and it may be fine for one or two people on a quiet afternoon. The fare, however, is metered or set by demand, and a Highway 400 delay or a snow squall can change it. The driver may not know your flight number, and a car for a 4 a.m. departure may be hard to find.
People searching for the Uber fare from Barrie to Pearson usually discover that it moves with the day. A pre-booked fixed fare is the opposite: known in advance, tracked against the flight and assigned to you. Read our flat-rate airport taxi alternative for the comparison.

A private car from Barrie to Pearson: fare, km and time
A business sedan is $380–440 one way from downtown Barrie to Pearson, about 97 km and 60–85 minutes, all-in plus HST. That includes the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR and bridge tolls on the planned route, airport fees and gratuity. Flights are tracked, curbside pickup at the commercial pickup area is included and the fare is fixed.
Larger vehicles on the same trip: business SUV $490–565, executive SUV $580–665, first-class sedan $910–1,045 and Sprinter $1,390–1,600. A luxury minivan is quoted by the engine. The fare is per vehicle, so a family of four or a group of six shares it. See the airport limo page for the service.

Which option for which traveller
Solo, daytime, one carry-on: the GO train and UP Express are a sensible budget choice. A couple with two suitcases: the stairs and changes at Union make it harder; the car is the easier trip, and the sedan fare is per vehicle. A family with a pram, car seats and bags: a luxury minivan or SUV with child seats from $25 each saves a hard morning.
A 5 a.m. flight: train timetables, shuttle departures and taxi availability are all thin at that hour, so a booked car is the safe option. A late arrival: a tracked chauffeur waits for the landing and the delay. A group of eight or more: a Sprinter, not several taxis. A business traveller with a laptop: the Jet Sprinter or first-class sedan makes the drive working time.
Winter, squalls and the snowbelt
In winter, the question changes: do you trust a road or a rail line? Both can be disrupted. Barrie's snowbelt can slow Highway 400 quickly, and Metrolinx runs construction weekends on the Barrie line; the construction notice lists them and advises checking service alerts. The advantage of a car in bad weather is that the chauffeur adapts the route, leaves earlier and tracks your flight; see our Highway 400 winter travel guide.
The last mile: GO in, car home
A mix works well. Many people take transit one way and a car the other, because the arrivals leg is when you are tired and carrying everything. A pickup from Pearson back to Barrie costs the same as the outbound run, with waiting counted from actual landing: 30 minutes on domestic and US flights and 60 minutes on other international arrivals. The car meets you curbside; meet and greet inside the arrivals hall is an optional add-on.
When the airport is not Pearson
If your flight leaves from Billy Bishop, the car is $445–510 for 115 km and 80–110 minutes; see the Billy Bishop page. For Hamilton or Buffalo the planning figures are on the airports hub. For private jets, our Lake Simcoe Regional Airport guide explains the airport nearest Barrie.
Hourly chauffeur for an airport day
If you have meetings before or after the flight, the hourly private chauffeur is better value than a one-way fare plus taxis: a business sedan is $135–160 an hour with a three-hour minimum. Our hourly versus point-to-point guide works through when this applies.
How to book your car and what to have ready
Enter the pickup address, Pearson and the terminal, the date and your flight number. Add child seats if needed and any meet-and-greet request. Cancellation is measured from scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before is free, then 10 %, 50 % and 100 % at 72, 48 and 24 hours. Alcohol is not allowed in our vehicles, and pets need prior approval. See the Pearson airport page, the travel desk for flights and hotels, and the guides hub.
