The Boots and Hearts shuttle, run for the festival from Barrie, Orillia and the GTA, is usually the cheapest seat for one or two people who can follow its schedule. GO Transit and taxis are alternatives. A private car suits groups and late nights: a business sedan from downtown Barrie to Burl's Creek is $180–205 one way (25 km, 20–30 minutes). See our Boots and Hearts limo page.
What are the Boots and Hearts shuttle options from Barrie?
There are five realistic ways to reach the festival from Barrie: the festival's own shuttle, GO Transit with a shuttle link from the station, a taxi or rideshare to the designated drop-off gate, driving yourself and parking, or a pre-booked private car. None is best for everyone. The right choice depends on your group size, your gear, how late you stay and who is willing to stay sober.
We are a private chauffeur service, so you should treat our view with care; the point of this page is to lay the options side by side and say where each one wins. We do not run the festival, sell tickets or hold any role in it. Our parent Boots and Hearts page has the wider planning guide.
When is the next festival, and what do the official pages cover?
The festival's website lists the 2027 festival for August 6 to 8, and the 2026 festival ran August 7 to 9. The transport guide on its Getting Here page was still headed with 2026 details when we checked on 2 October, so treat everything below as last year's arrangement and confirm it before you buy a ticket for a car, a shuttle seat or a parking pass.
The festival also notes plainly: do not drink and drive. That sentence is the whole reason this article exists. Whatever you choose, plan the ride home before the first beer, not after.
How does the festival shuttle work?
The Getting Here page says a shuttle service operates from the Greater Toronto Area, Barrie and Orillia, looping to the festival daily, with daily and weekend passes, booked through the shuttle operator's site at bus.com. We have not read a price list or a timetable on the page, so we will not state them. Look at the operator's booking page for pickup points, departure times and the time of the last return.
A shuttle seat is the lowest-cost route for one person or a pair who are happy with a fixed pickup and a fixed return. The trade-off is flexibility: you leave when the bus leaves, you share the ride with the crowd, and you walk from the pickup to the gate.
What does GO Transit add?
The festival's page says GO Transit service connects to Allandale Waterfront station in Barrie, with a dedicated planning page on GO Transit's Boots and Hearts site, and that daily shuttle connections run from the station, also booked through the shuttle operator. It is a good fit for guests coming from Toronto without a car.
If you are already in Barrie you can reach the station easily, but it is an extra transfer on both ends, and the festival is not a short walk from the platform. We do not quote GO schedules or fares; check GO directly. If you are on the train and want a door-to-door private ride from the station on Sunday night, tell us and we can meet you there.
What about taxis and rideshares?
The festival says taxis and rideshares use the designated drop-off and pickup at Gate 7D, 301 Line 7 South in Oro-Medonte, and lists four Barrie taxi companies and two in Orillia on its page. A taxi is fine for the trip in on a Friday afternoon when roads are quiet and no one is competing for a car.
The ride out is the weak point of any on-demand option: the crowd leaves at once, mobile data is thin and availability is a gamble. If you take a taxi, book it in advance by phone if the company allows, and have a backup plan. A pre-booked private car removes the gamble, but it costs more than a metered fare on a quiet night.
What about driving yourself and parking?
The festival's page says parking opens daily at 10 a.m. at Gate 8M, 240 Line 8 South, that weekend vehicles may stay Sunday night but must leave by 10 a.m. on Monday, and that there is no Highway 11 access to Line 8: drivers use Ridge Road instead. Camping opens on the Friday at 10 a.m. and guests may stay Sunday night.
Driving is the right call for one person who will not drink, or for a group with a rotating designated driver and a lot of gear. It stops being right the moment anyone wants to enjoy the festival fully. A long day, a crowd, summer heat and a 25 km road home is not the place to find out whether the driver is as sober as they claim.
When does a private car beat a shuttle seat?
Three situations: a group of three to fourteen splitting one vehicle, a day with a lot of gear, and a night when you want to leave at your own time. A private car also wins on door-to-door convenience, since it collects you at home or a hotel and drops you at the designated gate.
The fare is per vehicle, not per seat, so the arithmetic improves with every friend you add. Four friends in a business SUV split the fare four ways; twelve in a Sprinter split it twelve ways. For a single traveller on a budget the shuttle will almost always cost less, and we would say so at booking.
What does a private ride cost to Burl's Creek?
Burl's Creek is in our Oro-Medonte band, about 25 km from downtown Barrie. These are planning figures for a business sedan, one way, all-in plus HST with tolls included. The reservation engine quotes your exact address, date and vehicle before you confirm.
| Option | Best for | What the official pages say | Cost signal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Festival shuttle (bus.com) | One or two people, tight budget | Runs from the GTA, Barrie and Orillia; daily and weekend passes | Per seat; check the operator |
| GO Transit plus shuttle link | Guests arriving from Toronto | Connects to Allandale Waterfront station | Check GO and the operator |
| Taxi or rideshare | Quiet daytime arrival | Gate 7D, 301 Line 7 South | Metered; varies |
| Drive and park | A sober driver with gear | Gate 8M, 240 Line 8 South; Ridge Road | Check the festival's parking page |
| Private car, one way (25 km, 20–30 min) | Groups, door to door, late exits | Pre-booked, fixed fare | $180–205 sedan; business SUV by the hour from $175–205 |
Every class is on the rates page. Per-vehicle fares for larger vehicles are quoted by the engine for this trip.

How would two friends do a Saturday?
Two friends with day tickets in Barrie have two sensible plans. If budget matters most, take the shuttle in and book a private car for the way out, because the ride out is where the pain is. If budget matters less, book a sedan both ways and keep the cost fixed.
The trick is to set a pickup window rather than a time: tell the chauffeur you will be at the designated gate between 11 p.m. and midnight and text when you are walking out. Because the festival designates a gate for taxis and rideshares, your chauffeur can use the same area and confirm the exact spot by text. Take a screenshot of the gate sign before you go in.
How would four campers with gear travel?
Four friends with tents, chairs, coolers and bags are the strongest case for a private vehicle. A business SUV seats five with five bags; an executive SUV seats six with six. A shuttle seat rarely carries camping gear comfortably and a taxi may not fit it all.
The festival's page says camping opens Friday at 10 a.m. and guests may stay until Monday at 10 a.m., so a Friday morning drop-off and a Monday pickup is a clean plan. Tell us the gate and the amount of gear when you book. Remember the same page's rule on the gate for drop-offs, and that our chauffeur follows the festival's traffic plan and confirms the point by text.
What suits a bachelorette group of twelve?
A Sprinter takes up to 14 for $475–550 per hour with a three-hour minimum, all-in plus HST. For a festival, though, hourly rates make little sense for a whole day, because the car would sit for ten hours. A better structure is a one-way drop-off and a separate pickup booked for a window at night; the engine prices both.
Alcohol is not allowed in any of our vehicles, including Sprinters and partner party buses, so the festival's own rules decide what is allowed inside and ours decide what happens in the car. Our Sprinter and group transportation page covers seating, and our bachelor and bachelorette page covers planning.
What about families with teenagers?
A teenager at a festival is a parent's nightmare and a car's strength. A booked pickup at a known gate at a fixed time is far less stressful than a phone call at midnight. A business SUV is the natural fit, with child seats from $25 each for younger children.
Tell the chauffeur where the teenager will be, agree the pickup before the day begins and share the chauffeur's contact once confirmed. The festival's own age and bag rules apply; check them on its website. We cannot enter the grounds to collect anyone, so the meeting point has to be agreed in advance.
Why is the exit the hard part, and how do you plan it?
Every transport option struggles after the headliner because thousands of people want to leave at the same time. A shuttle queue, a taxi queue and a car park queue are all queues. A private car is a different kind of queue: you are already assigned a vehicle, and the chauffeur is waiting at an agreed spot.
On Sunday night, southbound cottage traffic on Highway 400 and Highway 11 compounds it. Add margin for the drive home, check Ontario 511 before you leave, and consider a hotel in Barrie or Horseshoe so you are not driving a long way at midnight. Our Horseshoe Valley hotels page describes how cars work around those resorts.
What about mobility needs?
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available if you book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter. We do not quote a model or ramp specification, and the dispatcher confirms what is assigned for your date. The festival publishes its own accessibility information, so read it and tell us the gate you have been given.
Service animals are welcome; mention them at booking. Pets that are not service animals need prior approval with written confirmation, but check the festival's own rules first, because it sets limits of its own.
How do you book a private ride to Burl's Creek direct?
Buy your festival ticket first, then book on our reservation engine: choose the vehicle, enter your Barrie address and the trip, and the fixed all-in fare appears before you confirm. There is no surge on the busiest night of the weekend, no app and no aggregator commission. For a Friday arrival or a Sunday night pickup, book as soon as your tickets arrive.
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup; 10 per cent at 72 hours or less; 50 per cent at 48 hours or less; 100 per cent at 24 hours or less or a no-show. For flights or a hotel around the weekend, ask the travel desk; for another Barrie festival, see our Kempenfest parking guide.
