BarrieLimo.net provides non-emergency medical transportation in Barrie by chauffeured black car: a ride to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) or a clinic within Barrie is a planning figure of $110–125 (up to 10 km, 5–20 minutes), and a car that waits is $135–160 per hour (3-hour minimum). We are a car service, not an ambulance: in an emergency call 911. Book a medical appointment ride.
Medical transportation in Barrie: what we do and what we do not
BarrieLimo.net is a chauffeured car service. For a medical appointment that means a clean black sedan, SUV or van, a professional driver who arrives on time, opens the door, carries a bag, waits for as long as you have booked and takes you home. The driver is a chauffeur, not a health-care worker: we do not provide medical care, and our vehicles are not ambulances or patient-transfer vehicles.
That makes us right for non-emergency visits by passengers who can sit in a car seat or travel in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle: a specialist visit, a scan, a day procedure with a companion, a follow-up. It does not make us right for anyone who needs a stretcher, oxygen or a medical attendant, or for any emergency. For those, call 911 or ask your care team about patient-transfer services. We would rather tell you that now than on the day.

Planning prices for rides to hospitals and clinics
Planning ranges are for a business sedan, one way from or to downtown Barrie, all-in plus HST: chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, tolls on the planned route and gratuity. The reservation engine quotes the exact fixed fare for your address, date and vehicle before you confirm.
| Destination | Distance and time | Business sedan, one way |
|---|---|---|
| Within Barrie, including RVH (up to 10 km) | 5–20 min | $110–125 |
| Angus and CFB Borden | 20 km, 20–30 min | $165–190 |
| Orillia | 38 km, 30–35 min | $215–245 |
| Newmarket and Aurora | 60 km, 40–55 min | $280–320 |
| Richmond Hill and Markham | 90 km, 55–75 min | $370–425 |
| Downtown Toronto (Union Station reference) | 114 km, 75–105 min | $420–485 |
For longer trips a larger vehicle is available: to downtown Toronto a business SUV is $550–630 and an executive SUV $660–760, and a business SUV to Newmarket is $365–415. Hourly rates are $135–160 per hour for a business sedan, $175–205 for a business SUV and $225–265 for an executive SUV, each with a three-hour minimum.
Getting to RVH in Barrie: the address, the entrances and the parking
Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is at 201 Georgian Drive, Barrie, close to Georgian College. RVH's directions page says to leave Highway 400 at Bayfield Street and to follow Georgian Drive past the college: the first road entrance is the Atrium entrance, the second is the Emergency drop-off, and the third, via Gallie Court, leads to the Main entrance.
Tell us in the booking notes which entrance your appointment letter names, because the right door can save a long walk. RVH's parking and transportation page lists pay-station parking and, at the time of writing, a 24-hour daily maximum of $17, plus public bus routes with stops at the main entrance. For a ride from downtown Barrie, 5–20 minutes at $110–125, a chauffeur is the simplest answer to both questions.
Where the car stops and who helps at RVH
At the hospital the chauffeur drives to the entrance named in your booking and stops where you can step out safely. If you need a wheelchair, RVH's accessibility page says that wheelchairs are available at the information desks at the Main, Atrium and Simcoe (level 1) entrances, and that entrance attendants help at the Main and Atrium entrances on weekdays.
The chauffeur stays with the car, so the entrance is where the hand-off to hospital staff happens. They will open the door, offer an arm, carry your bag to the entrance and tell you where they will wait. If you want someone with you inside, bring a family member or friend: fares are priced per vehicle, not per seat, so a companion adds nothing to the fare while there is a seat for them. Entrances, hours and arrangements change, so check the hospital's own pages before the day.
Hourly or two one-way rides for an appointment?
There are two honest ways to book. If your return time is known (a booked procedure with a fixed discharge time, or a clinic that always runs to an hour), two one-way rides within Barrie at $110–125 each can cost less than a three-hour block.
If the length of the visit is uncertain (tests that run long, a specialist who is behind, a scan followed by a consult), an hourly booking is usually the better answer. The chauffeur waits nearby, you call or message when you are ready, and you do not stand outside a hospital in winter waiting for a car. A four-hour sedan booking is $540–640 all-in plus HST. Extra time after the minimum is charged in 30-minute blocks. Our hourly chauffeur service page explains how waiting works.
Regular treatment visits and the cancer centre at RVH
RVH's cancer program is run at the Hudson Regional Cancer Centre, also at 201 Georgian Drive, and the hospital's cancer program page links to a directory of cancer patient transportation services in North Simcoe Muskoka. People having repeated treatment have more options than a paid car, and you should look at them first.
The Canadian Cancer Society's Wheels of Hope programme provides volunteer drivers for people with cancer, with a referral from the treatment team and a few business days' notice; see the society's Wheels of Hope listing for current terms. BarrieLimo.net is a paid service that can help on a day or at a time the volunteer programme cannot cover. Book each trip on the engine, and put the pattern of the visit in the notes.

Seniors, walkers and canes
For a senior passenger the details matter more than the price. Tell us in the booking notes whether the passenger uses a cane, a walker or a wheelchair, whether steps are difficult and whether a companion is travelling, so dispatch sends a vehicle that suits: an SUV has a higher seat than a sedan, and a luxury minivan has sliding doors.
The chauffeur will open the door, steady the passenger getting in and out, carry bags and fold a walker where the vehicle allows. We would rather you tell us about a mobility need than hope it will not matter. For a longer guide, read our senior transportation article and the RVH medical appointment guide.
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available. Book it in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter when you book, so we can send the right vehicle for the passenger and any companion. We do not quote a vehicle model or ramp specification online; the vehicle is allocated against your booking, and the engine or a dispatcher confirms it.
The fare for an accessible vehicle is quoted by the engine. Ask early for a regular appointment, because an accessible vehicle has to be allocated in advance. If the passenger can transfer to a car seat and the wheelchair can be folded, a standard vehicle may also work; mention the type of chair and we will tell you honestly which is better. Our fleet page lists the standard classes.
Barrie Transit, Specialized Transit and other options
The City of Barrie runs Barrie Transit, and RVH's parking and transportation page lists routes with stops at the main entrance, a Corridor 11 bus between Huntsville and Barrie on weekdays and a Simcoe County Linx service between Penetanguishene and RVH on weekdays. Routes and schedules change, so check the operators' pages.
For people who cannot use conventional transit because of a disability, the City of Barrie offers a door-to-door, shared-ride Specialized Transit service for registered clients within city limits, and reservations are made in advance. It is a public service with an application and eligibility, and it may be the right answer for regular trips. A chauffeur is the right answer when you need a specific time, a private car or a trip beyond the city.
Hospital appointments in Toronto
Toronto appointments take a day. Downtown Toronto is 114 km and 75–105 minutes from downtown Barrie, with $420–485 a planning figure for a business sedan one way. The big downtown hospitals are on and around University Avenue, and University Health Network and SickKids are both there; Sunnybrook is on Bayview Avenue in the north of the city. The engine quotes the exact address.
For a morning appointment, plan to leave Barrie early, because southbound traffic is heavier on weekday mornings. Book hourly with a three-hour minimum, or longer for tests and consults, and the chauffeur waits nearby. Tolls on the planned route are included, so a trip on the 407 ETR carries no extra bill. See Barrie to downtown Toronto for the route, and Barrie to Union Station for the reference fare.
Orillia, Newmarket, Richmond Hill and other hospitals
Many specialist visits are outside Barrie. Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is 38 km and 30–35 minutes away ($215–245 in a business sedan); Southlake in Newmarket is 60 km, 40–55 minutes ($280–320); and Mackenzie Health operates a hospital in Richmond Hill, 90 km and 55–75 minutes ($370–425).
For each, book the hospital's street address, give the appointment time and ask for the car to arrive 20 minutes early at the door. If the visit is a day procedure with a companion waiting, an hourly booking keeps the chauffeur available for as long as you need. Our Orillia and Newmarket city pages have the details of each town.
Children, car seats and family appointments
A child's appointment is stressful enough without arranging seats. Child seats (infant or child, toddler and booster) are available on request from $25 each, added at booking; tell us the ages and weights so the right seats are fitted. Ontario's guide to choosing a child car seat explains the stages.
A luxury minivan is a good fit for a family with a stroller, a bag and a sibling in tow; ask the engine for a quote, because minivan fares are quoted individually. If a parent is travelling to a hospital such as SickKids with a child, the hourly booking also makes the return easier, because the chauffeur is already there.
Privacy and discretion
You do not need to tell dispatch why you are travelling. We need the pickup and drop-off addresses, the date and time, the number of passengers and any mobility needs; your diagnosis is not our business, and the chauffeur will not ask. Chauffeurs are professionals who are used to carrying passengers whose destinations are private.
If you would like the car to wait a short distance from the entrance and not at the door, say so. If a family member books on your behalf, put their contact details in the booking so dispatch can reach them. Our private chauffeur service page explains how an as-directed day works for people who prefer one driver all day.
Winter, snow squalls and appointment-day margins
Barrie is in Ontario's snowbelt, and from November to March lake-effect squalls can close or slow Highway 400 between Barrie and Highway 89 with very little warning. A trip to RVH inside the city is rarely affected, but a trip to Newmarket or Toronto can be.
Check Ontario 511 before you leave and Environment Canada for the forecast, and allow extra time on any winter appointment, especially an early one. If a squall closes the road and you need to reschedule, tell the hospital first, then tell us. Our Highway 400 winter travel guide explains how we plan for it.
An appointment-day checklist
- Write the hospital's street address, entrance and appointment time in the booking notes.
- Tell us about any wheelchair, scooter, walker or cane, and whether a companion is coming.
- Choose hourly if the length of the visit is uncertain, or two one-way rides if the return time is known.
- Add child seats from $25 each if a child is travelling.
- Bring your health card, referral letters and medication list; the car cannot replace paperwork.
- Allow 20 minutes at the door in case of check-in lines.
- Check parking, entrances and visiting rules on the hospital's own site.
- Agree how you will let the chauffeur know you are ready, whether by call or message.
Booking a medical appointment ride, timing and cancellation
Book on BarrieLimo.net: enter the pickup address, the hospital or clinic address, the date and time, and choose either a one-way ride or an hourly booking. The engine shows the fixed all-in fare with HST on its own line before you confirm; there is no surge and no meter.
Appointments move, so please read the cancellation rule before you book. Measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 %; 48 hours or less, 50 %; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 %. If an appointment changes, tell dispatch as early as you can.
