A Blue Mountain day trip from Barrie is 66 km and 60–70 minutes each way, so plan a pickup around 8 am for a 9 am start. A business sedan is a $300–345 planning range one way; an hourly chauffeur from $135–160 keeps the car with you. Our Barrie to Blue Mountain limo page has the route; this post has the timetable.
What does a Blue Mountain day trip from Barrie actually look like?
It looks like three different days, depending on the season and the company. In summer it is a gondola ride, a mountain coaster, a village lunch and a drive back through Collingwood. In autumn it is colour on the escarpment and a slower pace. In winter, for anyone not skiing, it is usually a spa day.
Our route page covers the fares, the road and the ski-day choices. This post answers a narrower question, the one people type into a search box: what do I do with a whole day there, and what time do I leave? Each timetable below assumes a Barrie pickup and a Barrie drop-off, with a chauffeur who waits.
How far is it, how long does it take and what does it cost?
Blue Mountain Village is about 66 km from downtown Barrie, 60–70 minutes by Highway 400 north, then Highway 26 through Stayner and Collingwood. Planning fares are one way, all-in plus HST, with tolls and gratuity included; the reservation engine quotes your exact address and date.
| Vehicle | Seats / bags | One way to Blue Mountain Village |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | 3 / 3 | $300–345 |
| Business SUV | 5 / 5 | $400–460 |
| Executive SUV | 6 / 6 | $480–550 |
| First-class sedan | 3 / 3 | $780–895 |
| Sprinter | up to 14 | $1,190–1,370 |
| Luxury minivan | 6 / 6 | quoted by the engine |
| Hourly, business sedan | 3 h minimum | $135–160 per hour |
| Hourly, executive SUV | 3 h minimum | $225–265 per hour |
What is the best hour-by-hour plan for a summer day?
This one suits a family or two couples who want activity, lunch and a gentle finish. Times assume a 9 am start at the Village.
- 7:45 Pickup in Barrie. Highway 400 north to Highway 26, with a short stop in Stayner if anyone needs one.
- 9:00 Drop at the Village pickup and drop-off area. Buy attraction tickets from the resort before you go; the car does not sell them.
- 9:15 The Open-Air Gondola up the mountain, which the resort's site describes as a way up the mountain for views, trail walking and dining at the top.
- 10:45 The Ridge Runner Coaster, or the high ropes and zip lines for older children and adults.
- 12:30 Lunch in the Village.
- 14:00 The chauffeur takes you the short drive, roughly ten minutes, into Collingwood.
- 15:00 Hurontario Street and the waterfront, then the Georgian Trail on foot if the legs are willing.
- 16:30 Home to Barrie, about 17:45.
And what does a good autumn day look like?
Autumn trades the summer attractions for colour on the escarpment and a slower pace. The plan is the same, only unhurried. Start later, around 9:30, skip the ropes if it is cold, spend more time on the walking trails and gondola, and add a long lunch.
October daylight ends early, so aim to leave the Village by 4:30 pm. The drive home passes through Stayner and onto Highway 400 in the dark if you linger, and a chauffeur who knows the road is useful. For a colour-focused outing with more stops, see our fall colours drive guide.

What is a winter day for people who are not skiing?
A winter Blue Mountain day without skis is a spa day. Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain's own site says it is open daily from 9 am to 10 pm, recommends three to four thermotherapy cycles of hot, cold and rest at about 45 minutes each, and says most guests stay three to five hours. Add lunch in the Village before or after, and a winter day trip needs about seven booked hours.
A typical day: pickup at 9, spa from 11, lunch at 3, Village stroll at 4, home at 6. Snowbelt squalls can slow Highway 26, so build a margin. Our winter driving safety article explains how the chauffeur decides when to leave.
What should you know about Scandinave before you go?
Scandinave describes itself as a place of complete silence and says all electronic devices stay in lockers. That has two consequences for a chauffeur booking. First, you will not be able to text the driver from inside the spa, so agree a return time before you go in, and add a margin, because people lose track of time at a spa. Second, tell dispatch if the group will split, with some in the spa and some in the Village.
The spa is at 152 Grey County Road 21. Reservations, arrival times and what to bring are the spa's to set, so read the Scandinave page and the details on our Scandinave attraction page. We drive you there; we are not affiliated with the spa.
What does the resort say about parking and shuttles?
Blue Mountain's own getting-here page lists six parking lots, P1 to P6, and says P2 became a paid lot in late 2024. It also says no shuttles were operating when we read it, and lists FlixBus service from Toronto Pearson and Union Station directly to the resort. Check the resort's getting-here page for what is current.
That is the case for a chauffeur: the car drops you at the Village pickup area, so you do not circle lots, and the return is a text away. Overnight guests get parking with their stay according to the resort, but a day visitor is subject to the lot rules on the day.
Where does the chauffeur wait while you are at the spa or on the mountain?
On an hourly booking the chauffeur finds a legal spot close to the pickup area, keeps the car warm or cool, and stays reachable by text. The Village is a walking area, so cars stop at the designated drop-off and pick-up area, not at your door, and the chauffeur tells you exactly where on the day.
For a long spa session the car and chauffeur may wait for hours, and that is the cost of an hourly booking. For a straight spa day, two one-way fares with a fixed pickup time often cost less; see the next section for how to decide.
Should you book hourly or two one-way trips?
The question is whether you want the car on call. A summer day with a gondola, lunch, Collingwood and a flexible finish is the hourly kind. The clock runs from your Barrie pickup to your Barrie drop-off, so the driving counts as well as the waiting, and the three-hour minimum is easily met.
A spa day where you will be inside for four hours and the pickup time is certain is the one-way kind: two fares at the fixed rate and nothing for the hours inside. Ask the engine to price both for your date. Our hourly versus point-to-point guide and the hourly chauffeur service page explain how the clock works.

Which vehicle suits which group?
A couple on a spa day fits a business sedan, which seats three with three bags. A family of four with a stroller and a cooler does better in a business SUV, which seats five with five bags. A group of six, or a family with grandparents, fits an executive SUV or luxury minivan, both six with six bags, and the minivan's sliding doors help with car seats.
For a birthday, a bridal shower or a team day, a Sprinter takes up to fourteen. Stretch limousines and party buses are partner vehicles from vetted operators, priced in writing by a coordinator, and no alcohol is allowed on board them either.
Is the day suitable for children and older relatives?
Yes, with planning. Child seats are available on request from $25 each: infant or child, toddler and booster, added at booking, with the chauffeur fitting them before pickup. Tell us each child's age and weight. Check the resort's own height and age rules for the coaster, ropes and gondola, because we cannot state them.
For older relatives, the gondola and the Village's walking area suit those who can manage a few hundred metres, and a chauffeur who drops you at the pickup area saves a lot of walking from a lot. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available if you book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter.
Who buys the tickets, and what do you pay us for?
The resort sells attractions, lift tickets and spa services; we sell the ride. Blue Mountain's site sells day attraction tickets, passes and lodging online, and the spa sells its own sessions. Our fare covers the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, tolls on the planned route and gratuity, with HST shown separately.
Meals, tickets, any parking charged inside the resort and spa treatments are yours to pay. Included waiting on a one-way pickup is 15 minutes, then 15-minute blocks, which is another reason a long day is better booked hourly.
What if the weather turns?
In summer, a thunderstorm can close the gondola and coaster, and the resort decides when. In winter, lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay can slow or close Highway 400 and Highway 26 from November to March. Dispatch watches Ontario 511 and the Environment Canada forecast, and may suggest an earlier pickup.
Fares do not rise with the weather: there is no surge and no meter. If the forecast is truly bad, cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup is free, and the chauffeur's judgement comes before the schedule on the day.
Can you stay for dinner, and what about drinking?
Yes, and that is a good use of an hourly booking: finish in the Village, eat well, and be driven home. There is no alcohol allowed in our vehicles, so the drinks happen at the table and the drive home is yours to sleep through. Our article on whether you can drink in a limo in Ontario gives the wider context.
The return 66 km after dark takes 60–70 minutes in normal conditions. Tell the chauffeur your preferred pickup time in advance, and message dispatch if you finish early or late.
Could the day become a weekend?
Easily. Many guests turn a day trip into a night at the Village or in Collingwood. Our Blue Mountain and Collingwood hotels page explains where cars stop for guests, and a concierge or planner can book on a guest's behalf. A drop on Friday and a pickup on Sunday are two one-way fares.
If your trip includes flights, hotels or packages, our travel desk can arrange them with the car. For the town itself, see our Collingwood chauffeur guide.
How do you book a Blue Mountain day direct?
Open the reservation engine, choose hourly or one-way, enter the Barrie pickup and Blue Mountain Village as the destination, add child seats, and read the fixed all-in fare. Book direct with BarrieLimo.net: no app, no aggregator commission and one dispatch desk.
Cancellation is measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before is free; 72 hours or less is 10 per cent; 48 hours or less is 50 per cent; 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100 per cent. Pets need prior approval, requested at booking and confirmed in writing.
