On BarrieLimo.net the fixed all-in fare already includes gratuity, so you do not need to add a tip. If another operator's quote leaves gratuity out, 15 to 20 per cent is the commonly quoted convention for a chauffeur. A business sedan from Barrie to Pearson is a planning $380-440 with gratuity and tolls inside. Book direct and see the fixed fare first.
Do you tip limo drivers? The short version
The honest answer is that it depends on whether the price you were quoted already includes the tip. At BarrieLimo.net it does. The fixed fare shown on the reservation engine covers the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, 407 ETR and bridge tolls on the planned route, airport fees and gratuity, with HST shown separately. You are not expected to add cash at the kerb.
Many people still ask, because limousine pricing elsewhere is often built differently, and because tipping customs vary by country. This guide covers both: what our fare means for you, and how to think about tipping when you ride with any chauffeur.
Why our fares include gratuity
The reason is simple: a fixed fare you can trust. If you see $380-440 as a planning range for Barrie to Pearson, that range is what the ride costs, with no second sum to work out at the end. It also removes an awkward moment for guests, for assistants booking on a boss's behalf and for visitors from places where tipping works differently.
It also keeps the trip simple for companies. A finance team gets one number to approve and one invoice to file. For corporate use, see our corporate car service page.

What if I want to tip more?
You are free to, and no one will refuse. If a chauffeur has gone well beyond the ordinary, for example staying through a delayed flight, handling a very difficult load or helping an elderly passenger through a snowy arrival, a personal thank-you is your decision. We do not expect it and do not ask for it, and nothing about your service depends on it.
A kind word to dispatch is just as welcome. If a chauffeur did something excellent, tell us by phone, chat or WhatsApp.
What is customary when gratuity is not included
Where an operator quotes a price without gratuity, the conventions are a matter of custom, not law. A figure of 15 to 20 per cent of the fare is the one most often quoted for chauffeured service, and some people go higher for an exceptional day or a very long wait. The Wikipedia entry on gratuity gives the general background on tipping customs.
Check the quote carefully. Some operators add a fixed "service charge" or "gratuity" line, some include it in the headline price and some leave it entirely to you. If it is added as a line, it is usually the tip already, and you do not add the same again.
Tipping for airport transfers
"How much do you tip an airport limo?" is a common question. On BarrieLimo.net, nothing: gratuity is in the fare. With other providers, apply the same rule as above: check whether it is included, and if it is not, 15 to 20 per cent is the figure people most often cite.
For an airport run, what the fare buys is worth knowing: flight tracking, curbside pickup at the terminal's commercial pickup area and help with luggage. Meet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on on the booking form. See airport limo in Barrie for the whole picture.
Tipping on hourly bookings
For an hourly chauffeur, the fare is the hourly range multiplied by the hours, all-in, with gratuity included. A business sedan is $135-160 an hour with a 3-hour minimum, and extra time is added in 30-minute blocks. A four-hour sedan booking is $540-640 all-in plus HST. The tip is already inside it.
Because an hourly day involves stops, waits and changes of plan, etiquette matters more than on a one-way run. Tell the chauffeur the order of stops, give a realistic time at each, and say if you will be late. See hourly chauffeur service and private chauffeur as directed.
Tipping for weddings, proms and group nights
For weddings and group bookings the same principle applies: a written quote from a coordinator states what is included, and gratuity is one of the things to read for. For our partner stretch limousines and party buses, the coordinator's written quote is the source of truth. Ask if gratuity is inside before the day, so no one has to pass a hat on the night.
If a group organiser is paying, tell the others that the tip is not an extra, because it avoids duplicate payments. See the wedding limo guide and the prom limo page.
Etiquette: being ready for pickup
The chauffeur will be on time, and you can help by being ready. Included waiting is 15 minutes on most pickups, 30 minutes on Canadian domestic and US flights and 60 minutes on other international arrivals, counted from actual landing, and after that waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks. Tell dispatch if you are running late and we will tell the chauffeur.
At airports, the fare includes curbside pickup at the terminal's commercial pickup area; the Pearson ground transportation page shows the airport's own arrangements. If you want to be met inside arrivals with a name board, add it at booking. Pearson uses Terminals 1 and 3, so check your booking for the right one.
Etiquette: luggage, seat belts and the back seat
Tell us the number of bags and passengers when you book so the right vehicle is sent. The chauffeur loads and unloads luggage; give heavy or fragile cases a quick word. Seat belts are on in the car, and children need the right seat. Child seats start at $25 each and are added when you book.
A chauffeured car is a private room. You can work, rest or talk. If you want quiet, say so politely; if you want a conversation, say so. Either is fine; the chauffeur will follow your lead.

Etiquette: alcohol, food and pets
Alcohol is not allowed in our vehicles. That means no drinking on board, including in stretch limousines, party buses, wedding cars and proms, and it applies even if the trip is to a celebration. Plan toasts at the venue. Ontario's alcohol rules are administered by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, but our own rule is simpler than any licensing question: nothing is drunk on board. See our note on drinking in a limo in Ontario.
Pets need prior approval: ask at booking and wait for written confirmation. Service animals are welcome and should be mentioned at booking. For small items such as coffee, ask the chauffeur if you are unsure. See travelling with pets by airport limo for more.
Etiquette: changes of plan, extra stops and the clock
On an hourly booking the chauffeur follows your plan, and sensible changes are normal: another stop, a longer lunch, a different drop-off. Tell the chauffeur early, because road conditions and the next stop's parking affect what is possible.
On a one-way fare the route is the planned one, so if you know you want another stop, mention it when you book and the reservation engine can plan for it. If it comes up on the day, tell the chauffeur and dispatch can advise on the options.
Etiquette: privacy and professional conduct
A chauffeur's job includes discretion. Conversations in the car stay in the car, and executives and visitors travelling with sensitive material can ask for specific arrangements; see our note on NDA and privacy protocol for VIP transportation.
Treat the chauffeur as a professional: a greeting, a clear destination and politeness go a long way. If anything goes wrong, tell dispatch right away rather than after the trip, because it is easier to fix on the day. Our chauffeur etiquette note goes through what to expect.
For visitors from other countries
Tipping customs differ widely. In some countries a tip is expected at every service, in others it is rare and in others a service charge is included automatically. If you are visiting Barrie from abroad, the Government of Canada travel site covers entry and the practicalities of a visit. On the ground, the simplest rule is the one we apply: the fare you see includes gratuity, so you do not need to work out a local custom.
If you are comparing us to other providers, compare the all-in totals. A lower headline figure that leaves out gratuity, tolls or airport fees is not necessarily lower. See limo prices in Barrie for a full breakdown.
Taxi, rideshare and limousine: how the tipping differs
A taxi meter and a rideshare app are different products from a fixed-fare chauffeured car. Taxis and rideshare normally show a fare and leave any tip to you, and the apps often prompt for one. A pre-booked chauffeured car has a quoted price, and whether it includes the tip depends on the operator.
If you are weighing the choices, our blog on limo vs taxi vs rideshare in Barrie compares them honestly. The chauffeured car is the premium option; it earns that with luggage, children, early flights and late arrivals.
Etiquette for families, older passengers and accessibility
If you are travelling with children, tell us their ages when you book so the right seats are fitted, and keep the seats' fitting instructions in mind when you hand over your own. Older passengers or anyone who needs time getting in and out should say so at booking; the chauffeur will not hurry you, and the clock has margin built into it on most bookings. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available: book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter, so the right vehicle is sent.
Never feel you are imposing by asking. Questions about a step, a seat height or the route are exactly what the booking notes are for.
Etiquette on game nights, casino runs and concert days
Nights out have their own rhythm. For a Colts game at Sadlon Arena, a Casino Rama evening or a concert, agree the pickup time and place before the event, because crowds change where cars can stop. Be at the agreed spot when the chauffeur arrives, and remember the car is a ride home, not a place for the party to continue: alcohol is not allowed on board.
For group nights, nominate one person to talk to the chauffeur and dispatch. One contact and one phone number are much easier than six people giving six different instructions. See our pages on Casino Rama limo and concerts and game days.
A quick checklist before you ride
- Check whether the quote includes gratuity; ours does.
- Confirm the pickup address, time and terminal.
- Tell us passengers, bags, child seats and any accessibility needs.
- Have your flight number ready for airport pickups.
- Remember that alcohol is not allowed on board and pets need prior approval.
- If plans change, tell dispatch early.
Corporate riders and expense reports
If you are travelling for work, check your company's policy. Because our fare is all-in, there is no separate tip to claim, and the invoice shows what you paid. If you want a receipt for a specific booking, ask dispatch.
Assistants who book for executives often prefer this, because there is no cash to arrange and no after-the-fact question about whether to tip. For accounts and invoicing, see corporate car service.
Booking direct, with the fare shown first
Book on the booking page: enter the pickup, destination and date, choose a vehicle and read the fixed all-in fare before you confirm. There is no app and no commission, and one dispatch desk handles everything. The cancellation terms run from the scheduled pickup time: more than 72 hours before, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 per cent; 48 hours or less, 50 per cent; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 per cent.
