Mariposa Folk Festival tickets for July 9–11, 2027 are due to go on sale in October through the festival's own site, not through us. Once you hold them, getting to Tudhope Park in Orillia from Barrie is 38 km and 30–35 minutes. The festival's free shuttle or your own car is cheaper; our Mariposa Folk Festival limo is a sedan at $215–245 one way, or hourly.
When do Mariposa Folk Festival tickets go on sale for 2027?
The festival's website gives the 2027 dates as July 9 to 11 and says tickets will go on sale in October. On 2 October 2026 its tickets page still said 2027 tickets were coming soon, so check the official ticket page before you do anything else. The same site says the 2026 festival sold out for a fifth consecutive year, which is a good reason not to wait until June.
We are a ground-transport company, not the festival: we sell no passes, hold no allocation and have no role in the programme. Our Mariposa Folk Festival page covers the logistics in general. This guide is about sorting your tickets and your transport together, in the right order.
Where should you buy Mariposa tickets, and where should you not?
The festival lists three official channels: online through its Frontgate Tickets page, in person at the festival office at 10 Peter Street South in Orillia, and by phone. Use those and nothing else. A sold-out festival attracts resale listings and look-alike websites, and a ticket that turns out to be invalid cannot be rescued by a ride to the gate.
The ticket page also says there is no group sales rate for 2027, all major credit cards are accepted and, importantly, there are no refunds unless the festival is cancelled. The event goes ahead rain or shine. Buy tickets for the dates you are sure you can attend, and treat your car booking the same way: it is far easier to keep a plan flexible on the transport side, where our cancellation terms are published and simple.
Weekend pass or day pass: which one fits your plan?
The festival's ticketing page for 2027 was not yet showing prices when we checked, so we will not print any. Previous years have offered weekend passes and day passes, with age-based categories, and the festival's site says children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paid adult ticket. Read the current listing for the exact categories.
The decision is really about your weekend. A weekend pass suits people who want the full run, who may camp, and who will return each day. A single-day pass suits a Saturday-only visitor from Barrie who wants the biggest day without a hotel. If you are unsure, buy a day pass for the day you most want and book the ride for that day first.
What does the wristband let you do?
According to the festival's FAQ, your ticket becomes a wristband and you may come and go as you wish until 11 p.m. each day by showing it at the gate. Weekend wristbands must stay on for the whole weekend, so do not cut them off after Friday night.
That re-entry rule is the most useful thing a ride-planner can know. It means a Saturday does not have to be a ten-hour stand in a field: you can leave mid-afternoon for a proper dinner in Orillia and come back for the evening acts, and a chauffeur who waits makes that easy. We explain how the hourly option handles it in the section on dinner breaks below.
How does camping work, and when is a car better than a tent?
Camping passes are sold to weekend pass holders and others with weekend accreditation. The festival says camping is unserviced, with sites allocated first come, first served, children 12 and under camp free with an adult, and that for 2027 it is again offering fewer oversize RV passes to protect limited campground space. Read its camping page for the rest.
For many Barrie visitors, camping is more than they want. A car lets you sleep in your own bed and still hear the late sets, because the drive home is 38 km. The honest comparison: camping saves the fare and puts you on site; a ride saves the packing, the tent and the Sunday-night teardown. Our Orillia hotels page covers staying in town instead.
How far is Tudhope Park, and what does a ride cost from Barrie?
The festival is held at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, 500 Atherley Road in Orillia, on Lake Couchiching. From downtown Barrie it is about 38 km by Highway 400 and Highway 11, 30–35 minutes in normal traffic. These are planning figures, all-in plus HST with tolls included; the engine quotes your exact address and date before you confirm.
| Plan | Vehicle | How it is priced | Planning figure |
|---|---|---|---|
| One way, Barrie to Orillia (38 km, 30–35 min) | Business sedan | per trip | $215–245 |
| A full day pass, ride out and home with the car waiting | Business sedan | per hour, 3 h minimum | $135–160 per hour |
| Family day with strollers and chairs | Business SUV | per hour, 3 h minimum | $175–205 per hour |
| Six friends and a cooler | Executive SUV | per hour, 3 h minimum | $225–265 per hour |
| A group of ten to fourteen | Executive Sprinter | per hour, 3 h minimum | $475–550 per hour |
Fares are per vehicle, not per seat. See rates for every class.

What does the festival offer for getting there, and when is that enough?
The festival's getting-here page lists limited on-site parking, first come and paid by the day in cash, street parking nearby, 50 accessible spaces at the front gate for official Ontario permit holders, and free bike parking. It also lists two continuous-loop free shuttle routes from points in Orillia, running from mid-afternoon on Friday and from mid-morning on Saturday and Sunday until around 1 a.m., and says Orillia Transit serves the Atherley Road stop. Check the festival's getting-here page for the current year, because details change.
If you are already in Orillia, the free shuttle is excellent. If you are driving from Barrie and one person will stay sober, parking may be enough. Those facts are why many people never need us.
When is a private car better than the shuttle?
A shuttle starts in Orillia, so it solves the last few kilometres, not the 38 km from Barrie. A private car solves the whole trip and a few extra problems: strollers, a cooler, grandparents who cannot manage a long walk, a wet-weather exit, or a late Saturday finish when the shuttle loop is packed.
It also solves the question of who drives home. Mariposa has licensed areas, and a long evening of music and a glass of something is part of the point for many guests. A chauffeur lets everyone enjoy it. There is no alcohol on board our vehicles, so the drink happens at the festival and the ride happens afterwards.
How would a family of five plan a Saturday?
Picture two adults, a child under 12 who is free with a paid adult ticket, and two older children. A business SUV seats five with five bags, which fits chairs, a soft-sided cooler and a rain jacket each. Pick up at Barrie at 10 a.m., arrive just after the gates open, and ask the chauffeur to take the family to a long lunch in town around two. The wristband allows re-entry until 11 p.m.
Book hourly so the car waits. Child seats are available from $25 each when you book. If the youngest is tired by eight, the car is ready; if everyone is happy, the chauffeur waits and you leave after the last act. The hourly chauffeur page explains the clock.
How would two friends handle a weekend pass?
Friday evening and Saturday night are the heart of the weekend. Two friends from Barrie could book two one-way rides per day, which costs twice the one-way fare each time but nothing for waiting, or a single hourly booking on Saturday only. Our hourly versus point-to-point guide explains how to compare them.
The practical trick is to set the Friday return generously. The festival's shuttle runs late, but a private car is the better choice after a long night. Tell dispatch the festival's published finish time when you book, then text when you are at the gate. For a trip from Barrie that starts around 4 p.m. on a Friday, allow extra time on Highway 11; cottage traffic is heavy northbound from late afternoon in summer.
What if you are a senior with a day pass?
Many of the festival's most devoted visitors are older, and a sunny field is hard work after a long drive. A business sedan from Barrie is a quiet, air-conditioned way to arrive fresh, with a chauffeur who carries the folding chair. Ask for a drop-off near the entrance and a pickup at the same spot.
Tell us about any mobility needs at booking. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available if you book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter. The festival's own FAQ says accessible parking and seating are available at the Main and Pub stages and most of the grounds are flat, grassy or paved.
Can the chauffeur wait while you leave for dinner and come back?
Yes, on an hourly booking. Because the wristband allows re-entry until 11 p.m., the day can have a built-in intermission: a meal in downtown Orillia, a stroll on the waterfront at the Port of Orillia, and back for the evening acts. The clock keeps running, which is exactly what you are paying for, and extra time runs in 30-minute blocks.
A one-way trip does not include open-ended waiting, so do not try to stretch a one-way booking into a dinner break. If your plans could change, book hourly. Our Barrie to Orillia and Mariposa guide goes deeper on the town itself.
What can you bring, and does it fit in the car?
The festival's FAQ permits small backpacks and soft-sided coolers, collapsible portable chairs and blankets up to 8 by 10 feet, and says all bags are subject to check. Pets are not allowed on the grounds, apart from service animals, and alcohol may not be brought in; three licensed areas serve drinks.
Fit your vehicle to the gear. A sedan takes three people and three bags; a business SUV five and five; an executive SUV six and six. Folding chairs are easy; a big hamper is not. Pets in our vehicles need prior approval, but since the festival does not admit them, leave them at home.
What about rain, heat and the rain-or-shine rule?
The festival is an outdoor event, rain or shine, with no refunds for weather. July can mean a thunderstorm at four o'clock and sunburn by six. Pack a rain layer, sunscreen and water. The car is your dry, shaded refuge, and with an hourly booking the chauffeur keeps the cabin cool and the doors ready.
If a storm is forecast, tell dispatch before you travel; we watch conditions and can adjust the pickup time. Our cancellation terms are free more than 72 hours before pickup, 10 per cent at 72 hours or less, 50 per cent at 48 hours or less and 100 per cent at 24 hours or less or a no-show.
Should you arrange hotels or flights as well?
Out-of-town friends often turn Mariposa into a weekend. If they fly in, the Barrie to Pearson run is $380–440 in a business sedan (about 97 km, 60–85 minutes), flight-tracked, and Orillia is a short drive beyond Barrie. Our travel desk works with BookingWorldwide.net to put flights and rooms on one file.
Book the festival hotel early; the site itself lists hotels in Orillia and Barrie, camping, cottages and bed and breakfasts. We drive guests to hotel lobbies and never imply a partnership with any property.

How do you book your Mariposa ride direct?
Buy your festival tickets first, then book on our reservation engine: choose the vehicle, enter the Barrie pickup address, and pick two one-way trips or the number of hours. The fixed all-in fare appears before you confirm. No app, no aggregator commission and one dispatch desk. For Friday and Saturday, book as soon as your tickets arrive; the festival's sell-out record suggests the cars will be busy too.
