Georgian College graduation in June is held at the Gateway Entertainment Centre on the Casino Rama property, about 47 km and 35–45 minutes from downtown Barrie, not on the campus. A business sedan is a planning $230–265 one way, or $135–160 an hour for a chauffeur who waits. Plan the day with our graduation and convocation limo guide.
Where is Georgian College graduation held in 2027?
According to the college's own convocation page, the three June 2027 ceremonies, for August 2026, December 2026 and April 2027 graduates, are scheduled for 22 to 24 June 2027 at the Gateway Entertainment Centre in Rama, Ontario. The centre is on the Casino Rama property at 5899 Rama Road, and the college tells attendees to enter "Casino Rama Resort" into their navigation. That detail surprises families who assume convocation is at the Barrie campus, so it is worth saying plainly.
Ceremony times and the session for each program come from the college, not from us. Confirm yours in your graduate's emailed instructions before you book anything.
Has convocation always been held there?
No, and that is why older advice goes stale. The college's own newsroom reported that its 2023 convocation, six ceremonies over 19 to 21 June, was held at Sadlon Arena in Barrie. The current page lists Rama for the June ceremonies in 2026 and 2027. Venues can change again, so treat any blog post, including this one, as a starting point and check the college's page for the year you are graduating.
For families, the practical consequence is the length of the journey. Sadlon Arena is a short drive from most of Barrie; Rama is a 35–45 minute trip from downtown Barrie by way of Orillia, and further for anyone coming from the south end of the city or from Bradford.
When do the ceremonies run, and what is the exception?
For June 2027 the college lists 22 to 24 June, a Tuesday to Thursday. Weekday ceremonies mean no cottage-weekend traffic on Highway 11, but ordinary commuter traffic still builds around Barrie at the ends of the day, and a morning ceremony can mean a very early start.
There is one exception worth noting. The Automotive Business program holds its own ceremony, listed for 8 October 2026 at the Georgian Theatre on the Barrie campus, with doors at 1 p.m. and the ceremony at 2 p.m. If that is your graduate, the ride is a short one within Barrie, a planning $110–125 for a business sedan for up to 10 km and 5–20 minutes.
How far is Rama from Barrie, and what does the ride cost?
Casino Rama is about 47 km from downtown Barrie, 35–45 minutes. Planning figures, one way, all-in plus HST with tolls, fuel and gratuity inside; stretch, party bus and Rolls-Royce are partner vehicles.
| Vehicle (Barrie to Casino Rama, one way) | Seats | Planning range |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | 3 | $230–265 |
| Business SUV | 5 | $300–345 |
| Executive SUV | 6 | $360–415 |
| First-class sedan | 3 | $620–715 |
| Sprinter | up to 14 | $920–1,060 |
| Stretch sedan (partner) | 8 | $680–780 |
| Party bus (partner) | 14–36 | $1,120–1,290 |
The engine prices a luxury minivan on the day. Our Barrie to Casino Rama route page covers the drive.
Do guests need tickets?
According to the college, graduates may bring as many guests as they like, guests do not need tickets and seating is first come, first served. That changes the planning: the number of guests is not capped by the college, so the number of seats you need in the car is set by your family, not by an allocation.
First come, first served also means that arrival time matters. A family that arrives late may sit far from the stage. Build a margin into the schedule, and ask the college about arrival instructions for guests, because we do not control the doors or the seating.
When should the car leave Barrie?
Work backwards from the time the college asks guests to be seated. Take the 35–45 minute drive, add 20 minutes for parking and the walk, and add a further 30 minutes of margin for traffic on Highway 11 and the approach to the resort. For a ceremony that starts at 10 a.m., that means leaving Barrie at about 8:15 a.m. The graduate may be asked to arrive earlier than the guests, so check separate instructions.
In June, thunderstorms and roadworks are common causes of delay. The chauffeur checks Ontario 511 before leaving and chooses the route on the day.
What does a graduation day look like by the clock?
A sample, to be replaced by your ceremony's times:
- 7:45 Pickup at the family home; the graduate in gown or carrying it.
- 8:30 Orillia, a quick stop for coffee or a relative.
- 9:15 Arrival at the resort and the walk to the entertainment centre.
- 10:00 Ceremony begins.
- 12:00 Ceremony ends; photographs outside.
- 1:30 Lunch in Orillia or back in Barrie.
- 4:30 Home, with the graduate and grandparents dropped first.
That is eight to nine hours of car time, almost all of it waiting. The hourly rate covers it; one-way fares would not.

Hourly chauffeur or two one-way rides?
For a full graduation day, hourly is usually the better arrangement. A chauffeur by the hour waits through the ceremony, stays with the vehicle through the photographs and lunch, and brings everyone home at their own pace. A business SUV is $175–205 per hour and an executive SUV $225–265, with a three-hour minimum.
Two one-way rides, there and back, can cost less when the ceremony is short and the graduate wants to go straight home. The risk is the return: with a large crowd leaving one venue at once, a ride that has to be found afterwards may take a long time. Our guide to hourly versus point-to-point sets out the arithmetic.
Which vehicle should the family choose?
Count the graduate, the parents, the grandparents and anyone coming from out of town, then add the gown. A business sedan carries three; a business SUV five; an executive SUV or luxury minivan six. A Sprinter carries up to fourteen and suits a large extended family travelling together, with a stop for lunch.
Higher-seat SUVs are easier for grandparents. If the graduate wants the arrival to feel like an occasion, a first-class sedan is available at $350–410 per hour with a three-hour minimum. A stretch limousine is a partner vehicle with a four-hour minimum; our stretch limo page has the detail.
What should you do about gowns and caps?
A gown that has been folded in a box will crease, so hang it if you can. Most families carry the gown on a hanger and put it on at the venue, which keeps the fabric flat and the hair undisturbed. Ask the chauffeur where a garment bag can hang. Hoods and caps travel on the seat beside the graduate, not in the boot.
Bring a change of shoes for the walk, water for a warm day and a small kit of pins and tape. If the graduate will cross a stage in a long gown, ask about the dress code in advance, and tell us at booking if a full gown needs extra space.
Accessibility for grandparents and relatives
The college states that the venue is wheelchair accessible. From us, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle is possible if you book in advance and describe the wheelchair or scooter; it needs notice, so phone dispatch as soon as the date is set. A walker or folding chair fits in every class.
At the venue, the chauffeur drops the family at the closest legal stopping point and waits. Tell us if a relative needs extra time at the kerb, and plan the schedule at their pace. If you are unsure which door suits a wheelchair, ask the college before the day.
Family flying in for graduation
Parents and grandparents often arrive from other cities and countries. Planning figures, one way, business sedan, from Toronto Pearson to downtown Barrie: $380–440 for about 97 km and 60–85 minutes. Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, curbside pickup is included, and 30 minutes of waiting are included on Canadian domestic and US flights, 60 minutes on other international arrivals.
A Sprinter brings up to fourteen from Pearson at $1,390–1,600. For flights, hotels and packages, the travel desk works with BookingWorldwide.net, and our Barrie hotels page lists the areas.
Celebrating afterwards
After the ceremony, most families want photographs and a meal. The Barrie waterfront and Centennial Beach are a short drive from the college, and Orillia is on the way home from Rama; our Orillia page covers the town. Book the dinner before the day, because graduation week is busy for restaurants.
Alcohol is not allowed in our vehicles, which means a toast at the table and a chauffeur for the ride home. An hourly booking can run from the morning through the dinner, and a late drop-off at each household is part of the same fare.
Campus arrivals and international students
Georgian's campuses also generate arrivals that have nothing to do with June. A new international student lands at Pearson with two large suitcases and a first-ever Ontario winter ahead; a visiting examiner needs a chauffeur for the day; a parent drives up to move a student into residence. For these, a flight-tracked pickup and a fixed fare beat guesswork.
See our pages on college and campus visits and the first-time visitor's guide to Barrie. We are not affiliated with Georgian College; we drive to it.
What if the weather turns?
June can bring heat, humidity and sudden storms to Simcoe County. A summer thunderstorm can flood a lot and slow Highway 11, and a very hot day makes a gown miserable. Keep water in the car and a spare layer for the walk.
Check the Environment Canada forecast the evening before. If severe weather is forecast, leave earlier and tell dispatch, so the chauffeur plans the route. The fare does not change with the weather.
What happens if the ceremony schedule changes?
The college publishes the ceremony schedule and can adjust it. If your session moves, tell dispatch as early as you can. A change of time is easier to absorb than a cancellation. The standard schedule applies to every booking, measured from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours before is free, 72 hours or less is 10 %, 48 hours or less is 50 % and 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100 %.
Do not book until you have seen the session time in the college's own email. The rates page has every vehicle's figures.
How to book a graduation-day chauffeur direct
Open the booking page, choose hourly, enter your home address, the date and the hours, and add the stops in the notes: pickup, resort, lunch, photographs, home. You see the fixed fare, HST shown separately, before you commit to the booking. No app, no aggregator and one dispatch desk.
For several families travelling together, a coordinator can price a Sprinter or two vehicles in writing.
