A taxi with car seat is not guaranteed in Ontario, because the province's rules list taxicabs among the vehicles exempt from child-seat requirements, so ask before you book. With BarrieLimo.net you add infant, toddler or booster seats at booking, from $25 each, and the reservation engine shows a fixed fare. See our airport limo service in Barrie.
Can you get a taxi with car seat from Barrie to the airport?
Sometimes, but do not assume it. The Government of Ontario's page on choosing a child car seat lists the drivers who are exempt from the child-seat rules, and taxicabs are among them, except when the driver is transporting children personally or under a school contract. In plain terms, a taxi is not required to carry a child seat for you, and a driver who turns up without one is not breaking the rule.
That does not make a seat unimportant. It makes it your job, or your booking's job, to arrange one. Ask every operator the same questions before the day and get the answers in writing.
What do Ontario's child car seat rules say?
The province describes stages by weight, height and age. Rear-facing seats are for children up to 9 kg (20 lb). Forward-facing seats, or rear-facing if the manufacturer allows, are for children from 9 to 18 kg (20 to 40 lb). Booster seats are for children from 18 to 36 kg (40 to 80 lb) who are also under 145 cm (4 ft 9 in) tall and under the age of 8. A child may use the adult seatbelt alone on reaching any one of these: age 8, 36 kg or 145 cm.
The same page says drivers must make sure children under 8 use the appropriate restraint, and that the penalty for non-compliance is a $240 fine and 2 demerit points. Read the page itself before you travel: we are summarising it, and it governs.
| Child's stage | Seat type (Ontario's page) | Weight or height guide |
|---|---|---|
| Infant | Rear-facing seat | up to 9 kg (20 lb) |
| Toddler | Forward-facing seat, or rear-facing if allowed | 9–18 kg (20–40 lb) |
| Older child | Booster seat | 18–36 kg (40–80 lb), under 145 cm and under 8 years |
| Moves to adult belt | Standard seatbelt | any of: 8 years, 36 kg or 145 cm |
Which seat do you add at booking?
The booking form offers infant or child, toddler and booster seats, from $25 each, added when you reserve. Choose by your child's current weight and height, not by what you used last year, and put the real figures in the notes if you are near a boundary. If you are unsure, ask dispatch before the day rather than at the curb.
If you would rather use your own seat, mention it at booking so dispatch can confirm how it will be handled. Our brief to families is simple: tell us the number of children, their ages and weights, and the seat you want in the car.
How many seats can a vehicle carry once the seats go in?
Each seat uses a seat position and some space, so plan the car around the children, not the adults. A business sedan carries three passengers and three bags; with two child seats in the back the third position is tight. A business SUV, a black Tahoe or Yukon, carries five passengers and five bags. A luxury minivan, a Mercedes V-Class, Chrysler Pacifica or similar, carries six and six with sliding doors, which is a real help in a car park.
For a family of four with two seats, a pram and four cases, we would book the SUV or the minivan. Ask the engine for both and compare.
What does a family airport run cost from Barrie?
These are planning ranges, one way, all-in with tolls and gratuity, HST shown separately. They are per vehicle, so the number of children does not change the fare, and the child seats are added at booking from $25 each.
| Trip | Vehicle | Planning range | Distance and drive time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Within Barrie | Business sedan | $110–125 | up to 10 km, 5–20 min |
| Barrie to Innisfil | Business sedan | $150–170 | 15 km, 15–25 min |
| Barrie to Pearson | Business SUV | $490–565 | about 97 km, 60–85 min |
| Barrie to Pearson | Executive SUV | $580–665 | about 97 km, 60–85 min |
| Barrie to Pearson | Luxury minivan | quoted by the engine | about 97 km, 60–85 min |
How do you pack a family for an airport run?
Think in layers. The seat goes in first, then the children, then the bags around them. Keep the things a child needs within reach: water, a snack, a change of clothes, wipes, a favourite toy. Put the nappy bag and a jacket in the cabin of the car, not in the trunk, because a trunk is not reachable on the 400.
Winter adds a complication. Check your seat's manual about bulky winter coats under the harness, and follow it: many families take the coat off, buckle the child in and put a blanket on top. Tell the chauffeur about the stroller so it is loaded last and first out.
Is a taxi, a shuttle or the GO train better with small children?
Each has a place, and honesty is more useful than a sales line. A shared shuttle sells seats, so ask whether it carries child seats and in what sizes. A metered taxi has no obligation to carry one. The GO train from Barrie and UP Express from Union to Pearson need no car seat, but you carry the children, the pram and every bag through two stations and a change of train. Check GO Transit and UP Express for today's information.
Driving yourself solves the seat if you own one, at the price of the 400, the parking and a long day. A booked car is door to door, with the seat in it, on your clock.
What should you ask any operator about child seats?
Ask six things and get them in writing. Does the operator supply seats, and of what types? Is it confirmed for my booking, or "if available"? What is the charge? Will the seat match my child's weight and height? Can I use my own? Who checks the fit before we leave? A vague answer to any of them is an answer.
With BarrieLimo.net the seat is added on the booking form from $25 each, and the confirmation shows it. If something is unclear, message dispatch before the day. It is far better to fix a seat in a quiet inbox on Tuesday than at a cold curb on Friday.
How does the early-morning family flight work?
Early flights with children are an exercise in sequencing. Book the car with the pickup time worked backwards from the airline's advice, and keep the child asleep as long as you can. A sleeping child moves from bed to car seat more easily than from car seat to a second car. Our early morning flights guide gives a worked timeline, and the pre-dawn drive to Pearson is closest to 60 minutes.
Allow longer at the airport with children and say so at booking. The chauffeur helps load the stroller and bags while you carry the children, and curbside pickup is at the terminal's commercial pickup area.

What happens when you land with tired children?
Flight tracking means the chauffeur is positioned for your actual landing, so you never phone to say you are late. Included waiting counts from landing: 30 minutes on Canadian domestic and US flights, 60 minutes on other international arrivals, then 15-minute blocks. After a long flight, the walk from the gate, customs and baggage can use most of it with small children, so tell dispatch what is realistic.
Curbside pickup is what the fare includes. Meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is an optional add-on chosen on the booking form, and for a family with a pram and a mountain of luggage it can be the best money in the trip.
What about grandparents, strollers and accessibility?
Many family trips are three generations. A grandparent with a walker and two grandchildren in seats needs a vehicle with room, and a chauffeur who loads the folded walker and the stroller without fuss. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available: book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter. We do not name models or ramp specifications, so ask the booking desk what you need to know.
Say who is travelling and what they need. The more dispatch knows, the better the car, and the quieter the curb.
Do child seats apply to a stretch limousine or party bus?
Check with the booking desk. Stretch limousines, party buses and coaches are partner vehicles from vetted operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, and their seating differs from our own sedans and SUVs. We do not claim a legal rule specific to limousines: the Ontario page above is the source, so read it for the vehicle you are using.
For a family airport run the choice is almost always one of our own vehicles, a business SUV, executive SUV or luxury minivan, because the seats and the luggage space matter more than the occasion.
What about travelling with a baby on a long Barrie to Pearson trip?
Sixty to eighty-five minutes is a long time for a baby. Feed before you leave, change just before the pickup and keep the first leg quiet. Tell the chauffeur if you need a stop; a short pause at a safe place is better than a long scream on the 400. Rear-facing seats are for children up to 9 kg, per the Ontario page, and a chauffeur who knows you have a newborn will drive accordingly.
If you have a connection or an international flight, add the margin, because a family is slower than a solo traveller at every step.
How do you book a family airport transfer direct?
Use the reservation engine: enter the pickup, the airport, the date and time and your vehicle, then add the child seats on the form and put ages and weights in the notes. Read the fixed all-in fare and confirm. There is no app, no aggregator commission and one dispatch desk. If you are travelling with a pet, see our pets and airport rides post.
Cancellation is free more than 72 hours before pickup. A family trip that still needs flights or a hotel can go through our travel desk with BookingWorldwide.net. When you are ready, book your family airport car.
