A Sainte-Marie among the Hurons limo from downtown Barrie is about 50 km and 40–50 minutes to Midland; the planning range for a business sedan is $250–290 one way, all-in plus HST, tolls included. For a heritage day that also takes in Discovery Harbour or lunch, an hourly chauffeur ($135–160 an hour, three-hour minimum) stays with you. The engine shows your exact fixed fare.
Sainte-Marie among the Hurons limo from Barrie: what you are booking
If you want the visit to be simple, book a private car to Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie among the Hurons sits on Highway 12 East in Midland, a little over 50 km from downtown Barrie. It is the kind of place people mean to visit for years and then finally do on a free Saturday, often with parents, children or visitors from out of town. A chauffeur makes it easy: you are collected in Barrie, you get out at the gate, and you are not looking for a parking space or watching the clock.
You book directly on BarrieLimo.net; the reservation engine prices your pickup address and vehicle and shows a fixed all-in fare before you confirm, with HST separate and tolls included. We drive to Sainte-Marie, and we have no affiliation with it. Admission, tours and events are arranged with the site directly.

What Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is
The site's own homepage describes it as a reconstructed 17th-century Jesuit mission and living history museum, Ontario's first European community, and the headquarters of the French Jesuit mission to the Wendat people. The address is 16164 Highway 12 East, Midland.
On site, according to the site, you will find costumed interpreters, an introductory video, the Church of Saint-Joseph, a heritage farm with animals, an interactive museum, a retail store and Restaurant Sainte-Marie, which is open year-round and does not require admission. There are also four-season overnight cabins sleeping up to six and the Brébeuf Event Centre, which holds up to 100.
Season: what is open now
Sainte-Marie is seasonal. The site says it reopened on May 2, 2026 and operates daily from early May to early October. At the start of October 2026 its hours and rates page shows the fall season running from September 8 to October 12, with weekday self-guided tours to October 9 and weekend guided tours to October 4.
If you read this later in the year, check the official page for the new dates before you book a car. The restaurant stays open outside the season, and the site runs winter events such as First Light in November and December. We do not guess at hours: confirm them on the day.

How long to allow, and what to see first
The site suggests about 1.5 hours for a spring or summer visit, more if you book a guided tour. That is the number a chauffeur plans around. With the drive each way, a visit usually takes a half day, and it is easy to extend into lunch or a second site.
The site includes a free audio tour through an app, which is useful if you arrive on a quiet weekday without a guide. Admission varies by category, with discounts for seniors, students and youth, and free entry for Indigenous persons, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and Ontario teachers, according to the hours-and-rates page. Support persons of visitors with disabilities are admitted free.

Getting there: Highway 93, Highway 12 and the drop-off
The route from Barrie runs north on Highway 93 to Midland and then along Highway 12. The drive is about 50 km and 40–50 minutes in normal conditions; winter squalls off Georgian Bay can add time between November and March, and the road is busier on fall-colour weekends.
The site says parking is free, so there is no parking permit to buy. The chauffeur will drop you at the entrance, wait in the lot if you book hourly, and collect you at an agreed time. Check Ontario 511 before you leave on a winter day.
A day in Midland: lunch, shops and the town
Midland is a Georgian Bay town with its own website, midland.ca, and a waterfront and downtown that suits an afternoon. People searching for Midland, Ontario are usually after a place to eat, a walk and a second stop, and a chauffeur makes it easy to combine them.
An hourly booking keeps the car with you, so the order of the day is yours to change. Eat at Restaurant Sainte-Marie, which needs no admission, or in town, and ask us to wait while you wander. The Midland and Penetanguishene page covers local and airport runs.
Sainte-Marie and Discovery Harbour in one day
Sainte-Marie and Discovery Harbour are run by the same organisation, Huronia Historical Parks, and share a season pass. According to Sainte-Marie's website, the pass covers unlimited admission to Sainte-Marie, Discovery Harbour and Nancy Island, plus most special events.
The two sites are a short drive apart, so a day with both is realistic. An hourly chauffeur is the sensible way to do it: park nowhere, walk each site at your own pace, and let the car do the short drive between them. Nancy Island is in Wasaga Beach, covered on our Wasaga Beach page.
Martyrs' Shrine and other stops nearby
Sainte-Marie's website names Martyrs' Shrine as a nearby seasonal destination, and people who search for Midland attractions often ask about both together. We do not list its hours or details here because we have not confirmed them today; check the shrine's own website before you plan a visit.
Tell the chauffeur if you want a second stop and we will plan the order. If a stop turns out to be closed, an hourly chauffeur can simply carry on to the next one without any rebooking.
Hourly chauffeur for a heritage day
A heritage day has three parts: the drive, the site and the extras. The extras are where plans go wrong, because they cannot be timed. An hourly private chauffeur removes the problem. One car, one chauffeur, three-hour minimum, with extra time in 30-minute blocks. See the hourly chauffeur service page for how it works.
With a one-way fare you pay for the drive there and a second booking for the way home. With hourly you pay for the time and the car waits. Compare both on the engine for your date and pick whichever total suits you.
Seniors, accessibility and families
Heritage sites often involve grandparents, strollers and uneven ground. A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available: book in advance and tell us about the wheelchair or scooter so we can plan it. We do not quote a model or ramp specification. The site's accessibility details are on its own pages, and support persons are admitted free.
Child seats are available from $25 each (infant or child, toddler, booster), added at booking. Pets need prior approval: request at booking and wait for written confirmation; service animals are welcome and should be mentioned when you book.
School trips, groups and tours
The site offers educational programs and group tours year-round, and Midland is a regular stop for school and seniors' groups. A Sprinter seats up to 14. For larger groups we use partner coaches from vetted operators, priced in writing by a coordinator. Our Sprinter and group transportation page covers the options.
Group visits are best arranged with the site first, so you know the arrival time. Tell us the time and the number of people and we plan the pickup from there. Alcohol is not allowed in any of our vehicles.
Autumn colour and harvest weekends
Autumn is a good time for Georgian Bay. The site lists a Hometown Harvest Festival, and drives north from Barrie at that time of year are scenic. Our fall colours drive article covers what to expect.
Busy weekends mean more traffic on Highway 93, and the best days for a quiet visit are mid-week. Dates for events change from year to year, so confirm them on the official site before you commit.
Winter: First Light and the off-season
Outside the main season, Sainte-Marie still holds events: the site lists First Light in November and December. Evening events mean winter driving in the dark, and a chauffeur is more comfortable than driving yourself on a snowy Highway 12.
Barrie is in the snowbelt, and Georgian Bay squalls can close roads with little warning, so winter bookings include extra margin. Our Highway 400 winter travel guide explains how we plan those days.
Choosing the vehicle
| Vehicle | One way, Barrie to Midland (planning) | Passengers |
|---|---|---|
| Business sedan | $250–290 | 3 |
| Business SUV | $325–375 | 5 |
| Luxury minivan | $375–435 | 6 |
| Executive SUV | $400–465 | 6 |
| First-class sedan | $650–755 | 3 |
| Sprinter | $1,000–1,160 | up to 14 |
All figures are all-in plus HST. A luxury minivan suits a three-generation family. The classes are on the fleet page.
Taxi, driving yourself or a private car?
People often search for a Midland taxi. For a trip inside Midland, a local taxi is the sensible choice. For the run from Barrie, a taxi's meter depends on the road and cannot promise to wait. A private car has a fixed all-in fare, is priced per vehicle, and can wait.
Driving yourself costs the least for a full car. A chauffeur is for those who would rather talk, look out of the window and not worry about a snowy road. Our fare is a premium one; what it buys is a fixed price, a driver who waits and a car that is ready. Our Barrie limo price guide explains the numbers.
Booking, what is included and cancellation
Open the reservation engine, enter your Barrie pickup and Sainte-Marie or Midland as the destination, choose the vehicle and date and read the fixed fare. It includes the chauffeur, vehicle, fuel, tolls, gratuity and fees; HST is shown separately. Add the number of guests and any wheelchair or child-seat needs in the booking notes.
Cancellation: more than 72 hours before pickup, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10 per cent; 48 hours or less, 50 per cent; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100 per cent, measured from the scheduled pickup. Flights and rooms can go through the travel desk.
