A Mount St. Louis Moonstone limo or black car from downtown Barrie to the resort at 24 Mount St Louis Road West, Coldwater, is roughly 35 km and 25–35 minutes. Planning figures for a business sedan sit inside $180–245 one way, between the Oro-Medonte and Orillia bands, all-in plus HST. For a night-skiing day with a return, book an hourly chauffeur or two timed one-way legs.
Mount St. Louis Moonstone limo from Barrie: the short version
Mount St. Louis Moonstone, usually shortened to "Moonstone" or "Mount St. Louis", is a ski and snowboard resort with two base areas near Coldwater, in the snowbelt north of Barrie. It is big enough, with a long run list and night skiing on lit slopes, that a day there can stretch from the first lift to the last, which is why the pick-up matters as much as the drop-off. At BarrieLimo.net you book your Moonstone transfer direct on our own reservation engine, see the fixed all-in fare before you confirm, and speak to one dispatch desk. When the car should stay with you, choose our hourly chauffeur in Barrie. We drive to Moonstone; we are not affiliated with the resort.
Where Mount St. Louis Moonstone is and how far it is from Barrie
The resort lists its address as 24 Mount St Louis Road West, Coldwater, Ontario L0K 1E0, and the province's tourism listing describes it as minutes south of Coldwater in Ontario's snow belt (Destination Ontario). Map sources put the road distance from Barrie at roughly 34 km, so we plan on about 35 km and 25–35 minutes in normal winter conditions, longer in a squall. The Oro-Medonte page and the Orillia page cover the neighbouring communities on either side of the route, and the reservation engine picks the exact route for your pickup.
Planning fares to Mount St. Louis Moonstone
Every figure below is a one-way planning range, all-in with HST shown separately. Moonstone is farther than Horseshoe Valley and closer than Orillia, so the planning band sits between those two fare bands; the engine quotes your exact figure.
| From | To Mount St. Louis Moonstone | Distance | Drive time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Downtown Barrie, business sedan | $180–245 one way (between the Oro-Medonte and Orillia bands) | about 35 km | 25–35 min |
| Hourly, business sedan | $135–160 per hour | 3 h minimum | car stays with you |
| Hourly, business SUV | $175–205 per hour | 3 h minimum | up to 5 guests, 5 bags |
| Hourly, executive SUV | $225–265 per hour | 3 h minimum | up to 6 guests, 6 bags |
| Hourly, Sprinter | $475–550 per hour | 3 h minimum | up to 14 guests |
| Barrie to Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | $380–440 one way | about 97 km | 60–85 min |
A four-hour sedan booking is a planning figure of $540–640 all-in plus HST. For other vehicle classes on the one-way run, enter the pickup and Moonstone on the engine rather than guessing; the rates page explains how the all-in fare is built.
One-way legs or an hourly chauffeur for a Moonstone day?
Moonstone is a full-day or full-evening mountain, so be realistic about cost. If you plan to ski from opening to the last night run, two one-way legs are usually the cheaper pattern: a drop-off, then a pick-up booked for closing. Hourly makes sense when the car has other work, such as a school or club group that wants to leave the equipment bags in the vehicle and run to a restaurant between sessions, or a family arriving by air who need one car for the hill and the hotel. Use the hourly versus point-to-point guide to compare, and dispatch will price both for your date.

What the resort offers: slopes, parks and night skiing
The resort's own page describes 35 total slopes, 170 skiable acres and a longest run of 2 km, and the provincial tourism listing mentions two freestyle terrain parks, the Junkyard Progression Terrain Park and the Outback, plus a beginner-oriented Skool Yard GROM Park (Mount St. Louis Moonstone). The same listing says 26 slopes are lit for night skiing, and the resort advertises a lighting upgrade on its Big Lonely run with coloured LED fixtures. Night skiing is the reason many guests book a return pick-up late: it means a day that ends at 9 pm on select dates, in the cold, with a long drive ahead.
Two bases: Louis and Moonstone
Mount St. Louis Moonstone runs as two base areas, known as the Louis side and the Moonstone side, each with its own ticket kiosks and facilities, which the resort's FAQ describes as kiosks at Louis to the left of the main entrance and at Moonstone adjacent to it (FAQ). That matters for the chauffeur because "the front door" is not unique: tell us which base your group is meeting at, especially when two cars arrive for a split group, and agree a pick-up base before you ski. The resort says the Moonstone side is getting a new surface lift that adds capacity for 1,800 more skiers and riders per hour, so queues there may change from season to season.
Tickets, passes, rentals and lessons: everything is online
The resort's FAQ is blunt: all Podium Passes, daily lift tickets, rentals and lessons must be purchased online, with self-serve kiosks at both bases for contactless pickup of what you bought (FAQ). Lift tickets are sold through the resort's online shop (lift tickets), and lessons and rentals are sold separately, with lift tickets and rentals not included in private or semi-private lesson prices. The practical order is: buy everything first, then book the car around the arrival time that the lesson or rental pickup needs. We do not sell the resort's tickets and cannot buy them for you.
Season, hours and checking the mountain status
The FAQ says the season generally runs from December through March, and it posts holiday hours with extended 9 pm closings on select dates; regular hours change with the calendar, so check before you set a pick-up time. The resort also publishes a live mountain status page (mountain status). Our practical advice is to check status the morning of the trip and again an hour before your return pick-up, because a mid-day closure for weather changes the ride home. If the plan changes, tell dispatch as early as you can; our cancellation rule is set out below.

Gear, helmets and choosing the vehicle
A full ski day brings skis or boards, boot bags, helmets, goggles and spare layers, so vehicle choice matters. Our business SUV seats five with five bags; an executive SUV or luxury van seats six with six; a Sprinter takes up to fourteen guests; and a business sedan seats three with three bags and suits two adults with light gear. Tell us at booking how many skis, boards and boot bags are coming, and whether anyone uses a wheelchair or scooter; a wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available if you book in advance. Wet gear goes in the cargo area, not on the seats.
Groups, ski clubs and school trips
The resort promotes school education trips, and ski clubs and friends' groups often travel together. For seven to fourteen guests a Sprinter keeps everyone on one booking; larger groups of 24 to 56 use a partner minicoach or motorcoach from vetted operators in the LimousineWorldwide.Directory network, and we say so on the booking, with multi-vehicle groups priced in writing by a coordinator. For a group day, give dispatch the headcount, the base you are meeting at, and a single contact number, and decide a fixed return time with a buffer for rentals and washrooms.
Families, children and car seats
Booster, toddler and infant seats can be requested at booking from $25 each; the chauffeur has them fitted when the car arrives. A day at Moonstone with children means lessons, rentals and wet clothes, and the best advice is to build slack into the return time, because tired children rarely finish on schedule. A pet must be approved before the booking is final, and we confirm it in writing; service animals are welcome and should be mentioned up front. A luxury van or executive SUV gives the most room for a family and its gear.
Snow squalls, Highway 400 and the drive home
North of Barrie the snowbelt is real: lake-effect squalls off Georgian Bay can slow or close highways with little warning from November to March, and the drive home from a night session is when a squall catches people tired. Check Ontario 511 and the Environment Canada forecast before you leave, and read the Highway 400 winter travel guide. Our chauffeurs use late-model vehicles on winter tires and watch the roads; if a closure forces a detour, the fixed fare is for the planned route, so talk to dispatch early if conditions change.
Is there a shuttle or bus to Moonstone from Barrie?
We have not verified a scheduled public bus or a resort shuttle from Barrie, and the resort's pages do not mention one, so check GO Transit and the resort before assuming. Taxis are metered and available for one leg, but a return from a night session can be hard to guarantee. A private car is priced per vehicle, not per seat, so it is most economical for four or more people.
| Option | Strengths | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Drive yourself | Cheapest if you have a car | Winter roads, a long night session, a designated driver |
| Taxi | Metered, one leg at a time | Availability at closing; return leg is a gamble |
| Public transit | Cheapest where a route exists | We cannot confirm a stop at the resort |
| Private car | Fixed fare, door to door, gear room, return time set in advance | Priced per vehicle; premium to the cheapest options |
Podium Pass holders and the spa pairing
The resort's site says Podium Pass holders receive $20 off hydrotherapy Monday to Thursday at Vettä Nordic Spa for the 2026/27 season, which pairs a ski day with a spa afternoon at Horseshoe Resort. That is a resort-to-resort arrangement we simply drive between; we do not sell or administer the pass. If you plan to do both in a day, an hourly chauffeur is the natural booking, since the car can carry you between the two. No alcohol is allowed in our vehicles.
Where to stay near Moonstone
The resort's accommodations page lists partner stays across the region, from Barrie hotels to rentals and bed and breakfasts, rather than on-site lodging we can describe. That makes a Barrie base a sensible choice, and our Barrie hotels page covers where cars stop and the drive to Pearson. We name hotels only on pages where we have verified them, and we never imply a partnership; guests simply book the stay they prefer and then book the car.
Arriving from Pearson
Skiers from out of town often land at Toronto Pearson and want the hill the same afternoon. The run up Highway 400 is about 97 km and 60–85 minutes to downtown Barrie, with a planning figure of $380–440 one way in a business sedan to Barrie itself, and Moonstone lies beyond. Flights are tracked, and the included wait after actual landing is 30 minutes for Canadian domestic and US arrivals and 60 minutes for other international ones; the car meets you curbside, and an inside meet and greet is an optional extra on the form. See the Pearson airport page.
Cancellations, waiting and the return pick-up
On a one-way pick-up we include 15 minutes of waiting, then charge in 15-minute blocks, so a return leg works best with a fixed time. The standard cancellation scale applies: no charge more than 72 hours before pickup, then 10, 50 and 100 per cent as the pickup gets closer, measured from the scheduled pickup. Set your return for after the last session you plan to ski, and add a buffer for the base-to-car walk.
How to book your Moonstone chauffeur
Open the booking engine, enter your pickup, choose Mount St. Louis Moonstone as the drop-off and the vehicle class, and the fixed all-in fare appears before you confirm; choose hourly if the car should stay with you. If you are building a longer trip around the hill, the travel desk can arrange flights, hotels and packages, and the Barrie attractions hub lists the other places we drive to, including Snow Valley. The ski resort transfers page compares the hills.
